North Dakotans want a two party system of governance!
With the historic election of Heidi Heitkmap to the United States Senate the voters of North Dakota sent a clear message to our Party—We believe in and want a two party system of government for North Dakota.
We must rise to the challenge and as a political party we are organized with one specific goal: “win” elections. One party rule by the Republican Party is having a major negative impact on our communities, vulnerable citizens, our environment and our future.
North Dakota is best served when competing ideas, from both political parties, are openly and fairly discussed. So far, the Republican Party and its leaders are running state government and the legislature “their way”–a way that fundamentally ignores the needs of North Dakotans. It’s time for a change.
Our state legislators are doing an admirable job in this session of the legislature, but they need their party’s help, now!
Our Party principals are sound, we are motivated, energized and committed, but we have work to do. We can make a difference in 2014 and beyond.
I believe as North Dakota Democrats we need to wake up every morning with a mission to accomplish.
Our party goal is to make gains in the legislature, regain control of the Congressional seat and begin regaining major state offices. Our target–2020 and control of the legislature.
We can do this with a political strategy that is focused, targeted and aggressive.
It begins with a plan. A plan that organizes for action. It is a four step plan: 1) aggressive fund raising initiative at the state and local level; 2) a new approach to messaging and communications with the voters of North Dakota; 3) A proactive field plan that organizes districts, recruits candidates and micro-targets voters for persuasion; and 4)Spreading the word that our party, the Democratic-NPL Party stands for equality, fairness, balance and growth.
Implementing this plan will require collaboration and team work at all levels of the North Dakota Democratic-NPL Party. It is already underway. Our messaging and communication plan is well underway. Our Field strategy is beginning to take hold, our legislators are speaking out with outstanding success, and voters are seeing what a stark contrast there is between what we are doing for North Dakota AND North Dakotans and what Republicans are doing for themselves and their buddies.
Simply stated, now is the time to put the pedal to the metal and give the voters the results they asked for–A two party system of governance for North Dakota!
I am thrilled and excited to be the Chairman of this great Party, and I hope you will join our cause today.
